About FLEET // Objectives // Project Team
About FLEET:
FLEET aims to support the implementation of the new FET Flagships. It will do this by fostering exchange between them, providing support in common horizontal areas and accompanying the path from pilot through to the implementation of selected Flagship projects.
FLEET will target national and European Research Policy decision makers to secure their support in the form of policies, programmes, instruments and funding. It will assist the final design of the Flagship projects to guarantee efficient and effective implementation.
FLEET will build on previous knowledge acquired in an extensive study on the subject and utilise experienced experts involved in policy and flagship design. The FLEET consortium partners provide all the relevant expertise required for support of the Flagship Pilots and in developing a selection and implementation process for the shortlisted Flagship projects. This includes long term experience in the design of best practice European and national funding programmes, capacious know-how of policy support, excellent skills in science communication and promotion, a network funding agencies, of leading industry players and other relevant stakeholders.
The support offered by FLEET to the Flagship Pilots will help to minimise redundancies between pilots, create processes and instruments that are considered best in class, and determine the nature of joint efforts from all relevant stakeholders for European emerging technologies from science, industry and RTD policy areas.
Objectives: FLEET will coordinate the efforts of the Pilots and the European Commission to streamline the respective activities, provide support across horizontal issues and act as a neutral intermediary between the emerging FET Flagship Pilots, and the ambitious goals of the European Commission.
FLEET is co-financed by the European Commission’s ICT programme in Framework Programme 7.
FLEET will provide the following support activities:
- Boost the probability of success of flagships by training the pilot actors on lessons learned from other flagship like initiatives
- Improve cooperation between pilot stakeholder by expanding FLEETS network analyses on relevant topics
- Support the flagship implementation by proposing possible legal instruments and its adaption to flagship needs.
